When I was first approached last year to be involved in the committee, I was not sure if I should take on the role. I remembered that I used to tell my friends that if God puts you through something, he definitely will bring you through it. I then decided to be involved.
Coming into this semester, I have had many other added commitments. I was starting to get a little skeptical about whether it was the right decision to take on the extra commitment.
Now, thinking back about how things have turned out, it can only be by God’s hand and work that everything has turned out the way it is. The weather that he has given us, the turnout for this year’s AR and the friendships that were being forged; it was definitely no luck or coincidence. One thing that I was particularly thankful for was the willingness of each and every single camper having the heart to want to serve and get to know the members from the other centers.
One thing that I was constantly reminded of was God’s grace, during one of Mike Paget’s messages on Isaiah. It really touches me, knowing the fact that we are like grass that withers but having a God that carries us close to his heart, and that if we hope in him, he will renew our strength.
On the last night of the camp, a few of us went stargazing at night and I was in awe because of the countless number of stars. I was reminded of Psalms 147:4. “He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.” We have such a mighty God who loves us and wants the best for us. That, in itself, comforts me and I know that God will be with me wherever life takes me.
